Tour of the Guinness Storehouse – Dublin

One of the tours in Dublin that is fun to go experience is the Guinness Storehouse tour. You can purchase tickets upon arrival or online ahead of time. It is a popular place so booking ahead may save you some time in lines. You will be there quite awhile to see it all. If you enjoy beer then you’ll love exploring the 7 floors all about the history of Guinness and making the perfect brew!

When you enter the ground floor you’ll see the Guinness store and the 9,000 year lease signed by Arthur Guinness back in 1759. Yep, 9,000 years! I don’t think fear of commitment was an issue for Mr. Guinness. After a brief introduction you’ll be off to tour the storehouse. Don’t worry, you can come back to the Guinness store at the end of your time at the storehouse to pick up Guinness merchandise. You can find anything from t-shirts, Guinness infused goodies, glasses and even Christmas ornaments.

The tour is self guided through several floors where you will learn about ingredients, the history of Guinness, popular advertising campaigns and even a tasting room. In the tasting room you’ll be taught how to properly taste and drink Guinness. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know there was a proper way to drink beer! There are also several restaurants and a cafe where you can take a break and stop for a bite to eat or toss back your favorite Guinness brew. Your ticket includes a pint at the top floor Gravity Bar or you can use it to learn how to properly pour your Guinness at the Guinness Academy.

One of my favorite spots is the World of Advertising. There, you’ll be able to view some of the fun and silly advertisements through the years for Guinness. There are lots of great spots for a wacky picture.

You’ll see the iconic toucan and even a fish on a bicycle.

Another part of the storehouse I really enjoy is the Gravity Bar. The bar is in the middle of the room on the 7th floor surrounded by a sweeping 360-degree panoramic view of Dublin. The breathtaking cityscape is a great way to end your tour of the storehouse. Many iconic places are featured and written about on the windows.

If you want to try a different type of Guinness brewed beer that isn’t as dark as traditional Guinness you’re in luck! One of the beers available in Ireland is the Hop House 13. It is a lighter beer that is well worth trying while you are in Ireland. It is also available at the Gravity Bar and the restaurants in the storehouse. Now your only problem will be to decide if you want the traditional Guinness or the Hop House 13!

Having a Guinness at the Guinness Storehouse is an experience that you will be sure to remember!
