Quarantine? No Problem – Easy Food Delivery with Apps!

My family has less than a week left now of quarantine in Taiwan. Technology certainly does make quarantine easier. Since our arrival I have downloaded several apps for grocery and meal delivery to our door. I’ve never needed these services before so I didn’t realize just how easy they are to use. If you are wondering about whether to try it out or not then here’s a couple I’d recommend! You pick what you want, pay online and like magic your meals or groceries appear outside your door within a relatively short time!

Uber Eats

The UberEats app has been pretty simple to use. I downloaded the app and the hardest part for me was trying to figure out how to put our Taiwan address in correctly for the delivery. Once I had that set up I was able to search categories such as Grocery, Bubble Tea (yum!), Desserts, etc. The app lists the delivery fee for each store or restaurant.

I started with a small order from Starbucks just to make sure everything worked out okay. Within 30 minutes of ordering or so, my coffee and iced tea was waiting for me just outside my door. This was perfect as I am required to stay inside.

Next, I ordered from a store named Carrefour. I was able to order fresh fruits and vegetables straight to my door. The app gives an estimation of what time your order will be delivered. It also updates the progress along the way to keep me informed of when the order is ready and when it is out for delivery, etc.

Once the order is delivered I receive a text message alert. After the delivery is made I also receive an email with a receipt. It was easier than I thought and has been pretty convenient.

Food Panda

The next app that I have used is FoodPanda. It has filters so you can search the type of food you’d like or search places based on price. This app also shows any fees up front and gives an estimate of the time it will take for the delivery to reach your door. We’ve ordered meals from a couple of restaurants through Foodpanda and it has also been very easy and convenient. We were able to try some great dumplings at a place called Bafang 八方. My son also enjoyed some sushi and miso soup.

I love going out and exploring but when you are required to be inside, these apps are a great way to still try new foods and order in things you need!
