There is a lovely park in the city of Taipei called Da’an Forest Park. It is easily accessible by taking the red line on the MRT to the Da’an Park Station. You can leave the station via exit 4 which will lead you right to the Northern edge of the park. The park itself is around 64 acres of green space and an enjoyable place to go for a stroll within the city.
Da’an Park is also a great place to go if you enjoy bird watching. You’ll also see turtles and friendly squirrels. I really enjoyed the largest pond that included a small island chock-full of various birds. There were quite a few beautiful birds while I visited. I was thrilled to see lots of egrets, herons and ducks. There is a helpful sign near the pond’s edge that identifies 30 different types of birds that you may get the chance to see while you’re there.
The park also has a lot of different types of trees and a great little exercise area next to a lily pad pond. There, you can hop on a stationary exercise bike while taking in the beauty around you.
There is also an Amphitheater in the middle of the park and some small play areas for kids along with lots of walking paths that circle throughout the park. I went in the morning in the middle of the week and there weren’t too many people around. I hope you enjoy the short video below of my visit to the park!
