Spooky Halloween Spider Donuts

Happy Halloween! This year I decided to decorate some homemade donuts for Halloween. I went with a fried cake donut recipe but you can make whatever type you’d like! If you’re just interested in decorating then you could always pick up some plain donuts and bring them home to decorate yourself!

I used melted chocolate to make the spiders and webs. I wasn’t able to find white chocolate this past couple of weeks but it is great for making the webs! I melted the chocolate in the top of a double boiler and then transferred the melted chocolate to a piping bag with just the very tip snipped off. Once I was done with the spiders and webs I let them harden in the freezer.

Next, I made some ganache and vanilla glaze for dipping the donuts. You can click ganache for a recipe. I only made a half batch and still had plenty left over. Both the ganache and vanilla glaze are simple to make. For vanilla glaze all you will need is about a half a cup of powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp of vanilla and about 1-2 tbsp of milk. I add 1 tbsp of milk 1st and then slowly add a little more milk until it is a good consistency. I also split my glaze in half and added a little orange gel food coloring to half.

Once everything is ready you can prep your work area and start decorating! I like to put down wax paper or parchment paper for easier cleanup later. I hope you enjoy my video below!
